Ideal Social Bookmarking Methods for Business Expansion

For the past few years the rise of social bookmarking as a flexible tool for SEO and marketing has had a massive impact in IM. It is an approach that is especially used for backlinking; or search engine optimization strategies. But you really should never neglect or overlook what could be done for the more long-term approaches at high PR bookmarking sites. So it all just depends on what you want to accomplish in your business. Social bookmarking sites generally give you a place to maintain bookmarks, for those who are definitely new to IM. You can assign tags (keywords) to your bookmarks, and that basically has SEO benefits but a great deal depends on the particular site.

Several years ago the more popular bookmark sites changed all their links to nofollow which had a huge effect on bookmark rankings. The more well-known bookmarking websites had the ability to just kill the search results for their bookmarks. Naturally, I make conjecture about any impact Google had with those modifying their links to nofollow. It does make for interesting speculation but not terribly significant at this point.

Make no mistake about what is feasible at high PR bookmarking web sites when you take a different approach with them. Mass backlinking profiles at bookmark sites are renowned for being just about worthless and even spammy. However, I am knowledgeable of people who do take a couple more minutes developing their profiles. Profiles that have appearances of being legitimate will do a greater job for you and have a good chance of passing a review. This really is the best way to go for many good reasons, and you will be able to use them for effective bookmarking for a long time.

Furthermore, a good profile with solid content can be used for RSS feed creation which is great. That means you will be able to post those feeds to RSS directories, plus they can get indexed. Then what you will do is work in your links and other related content. However, you do not want to irritate any feed subscribers by including too many links through the content.

There is a balance that you have to keep with the amount of content and different promotional methods in your feeds. Another important aspect is to take time and build relationships at these bookmark sites. It is not necessary to spend time building relationships and becoming known, but it doesn't have to be totally time consuming.

The important thing about social bookmarking is how you use it is entirely up to you. Most people are likely to just use them for backlinking, and it does seem that the approach outlined above is not applied by so many people. However, there really is strength in that strategy based on the feedback we pick up from those who use it.
